Here’s your Best in Show winner: Malachy, the pekingese (along with the cutest constant loser ever)
According to the American Kennel Club the breed, “possess a regal dignity, intelligence and self-importance, making them good-natured, opinionated and affectionate family companions. Their small size makes them a good choice for apartment life, but they are sometimes difficult to housebreak. They are relatively inactive indoors and do not need a yard, but enjoy walks. Because of their long undercoats, Pekes need at least an hourly brushing session per week.”
Some creative characterizations of the dog on Twitter included describing Malachy as “the love child of an ewok and a swiffer dust mop,” (@hallfox5), “a fur tumbleweed” (@hollybdc) and on Tumblr: HE’S LIKE A CLOUD WITH FEET AND A SMOOSHY NOSE (inothernews.tumblr.com).
Fun Westminster fact: the Labrador Retriever is the most popular dog in America but has never won Westminster’s Best in Show.
